Back in the 1980s I went to work down t'pit (at Kellingley Colliery). Because I used words with more than two syllables they sent me to college. I squandered my time at Doncaster, and for that I am sorry, to all those people within the system who I didn't repay with the respect they may have deserved, and especially my class-mates, who I still think of very fondly.
Anyhoo, I did blag my way up the tallest free standing structure in the country - it couldn't happen now, but I wrote a nice letter saying I was doing something to do with media studies, and took 'em a box of chocolates and before you know it we were riding that little rack and pinion seven person elevator up the inside of the tower - It was like being back at the pit again. Now the guy I took with me was the brother of one of the lads at work - was his name Andy? Jeez, it was 40 years ago. Modern phones take better pictures of course nowadays (see the last piccy), I do believe the windows were tinted and these all have far more archive than artistic value. They were taken on SupaSnaps slide transparencies.
My overarching thoughts were how similar in dimensions it is to the Eiffel Tower
